Gynaecology Plus Integrates with Te Whatu Ora’s New National Cervical Screening Register to Support HPV Primary Screening

13 Dec 2023

Gynaecology Plus is the first specialist platform to integrate with both the Australian and New Zealand Cervical Screening Registers. New generation software used in this way represents a significant advancement in digital health in both countries, enabling clinicians to practically transition to HPV screening and to help meet the NCSP-R goals.

We are pleased to announce that Gynaecology Plus is now fully supporting HPV screening in every hospital across Aotearoa New Zealand. Diagnostic & treatment colposcopy data from all hospitals & private clinics is being automatically submitted to the National Cervical Screening Programme Register (NCSP-R).

In New Zealand, 85% of people who develop cervical cancer have either never been screened or have screened infrequently. When the NCSP-R receives accurate and timely patient data early, the result is increased detection and intervention which is vital to save more lives. The goal of the NCSP-R is earlier detection with improved health outcomes for many more women.

Recent advances in science have delivered a new way to screen for the presence of high-risk cancer cells. By enhancing the accuracy and sensitivity of screening, HPV provides a better primary screening test which can either replace or complement the traditional “smear test” method.

All 20 New Zealand Districts have enjoyed a long and successful association using the Gynaecology Plus software suite. This new interface continues with that tradition by automatically submitting accurate colposcopy diagnostic and treatment information directly from the patient’s record to the NCSP-R. With new 2023 standards demanding more from clinicians, Gynaecology Plus continues to supply the reporting needed to fulfil the clinician’s commitment to the NCSP-R, liberating many hours of their time each week.

“Integration of Gynecology Plus with the NCSP-R marks an important step towards achieving our mission, to enable gynaecologists in hospitals and private practices to deliver care more effectively” said Malcolm Briggs, CEO. “Having the ability to seamlessly update and access information within the NCSR ensures that specialists have all the data needed for optimum efficiency, patient care and clinical safety.”

Gynaecology Plus software is now being used by every hospital across Aotearoa New Zealand and in large Australian hospitals.
